Unauthorized charge to account

On 7/8/2008 my checking account was charged $69.99 by classiccloseouts.com. I have only ordered from this company once back in 2005.
I have had no luck contacting the company either by e-mail or telephone and, upon doing a little online research, I found several complaints all made within the past week at "ripoffreport.com" about the same thing. Charges vary between $29.99 and $79.99.
Whether the fraud is being perpetrated by the company or an employee or their database has been hacked, if you have EVER used this company before, check your recent activity and have your account blocked from any further charges from them.

 I too have been charged recently on my Visa card. I was charged on 7/8/08 the amt. of $69.99, 8/6/08 the amt. of $79.99, 8/16/08 the amt. of $59.99 & on 8/18/08 the amt. of $69.99. This just started happening all of a sudden. To my knowledge, I have never ordered anything from this company. If I did, it has been years & years ago. Thank goodness my Visa is with Bank of America & they are great with the disputes!! It is very time consuming, though. I have found out through B of A that this has been happening to a lot of their customers. I have been calling Classic Closeouts phone number & of course you can only leave a message of which they will not return. Bank of America has been calling them repeatedly, also with no response. The really troubling thing is that they are using an old card number that I had when it was a MBNA account, before it became Bank of America and it is linked to my other accounts. I was told that just because I have cancelled this card that it is possible that it can begin again with a new card due to how the accounts are linked, especially if somehow this has been set up as an automatic authorization by Classic Closeouts. This is criminal!! I had no idea that this was going on until I got my statement! Now I am checking this credit card account daily online because the charges are popping up as fast as I can dispute them. After talking with B of A dispute & fraud dept. and hearing that others were calling about this, I decided to Google Classic Closeouts to see if there were any complaints. What a surprise! I thought originally that it was just simply a billing error of some sort. I can not believe that they are getting away with this!

They've charged me 3 times in the past 2 months, $69.99, then $79.99, and now $69.99 again. My credit card company handled the first 2, I just reported the third and asked to cancel my card. I ordered from them once in 2004.

I too got hit with the 69.99 charge and none of my info is on there site!!

Same thing here on 7/24 they took 69.99 from my account. I called and left numerous messages as well as sending emails. NO REPLY. I got a hold of my bank and they cancelled my card and are refunding me the full amount. The fraud specialist at Bank of America said that she has been getting tons of calls with the same story. I reported them to the BBB. Their website is still running!!! someone needs to shut them down.

Had the same thing happen to me on 7/2, for 69.99. Contacted my CC company and they are suppose to handle everything for me. What losers!!!

Me too, it happened to me too! I'm glad I found this site. I reported it to my credit card company, but now I'm good and mad and I'll report it to everyone I can!

I just received my credit card statement with an unauthorized charge of $69.99 on 7/1/08 from these frauds. Somebody at the company needs to be put away, and the company needs to go away.

I don't remember ordering anything from the company but right now, they've just removed $69.99 from my account. What the *** is all these? I tried to google their name and I keep seen people who are in the same *** I am from this company!

Same thing happened to me. On 7/9/08 I was charged $69.99 by Classic Closeout. The only purchase I ever made from them was in Nov. 2006. There is no phone # to be found and my emails have gone unanswered. I did fill a report with the BBB.
